Placement Tests in Zapmail: Monitor Inbox vs Spam

Updated over a week ago

Placement Tests help you understand where your emails land—Inbox, Spam, or Other—across major email providers. Running these tests regularly lets you track deliverability health, spot issues early, and protect your sender reputation.

What Is a Placement Test?

A Placement Test sends test emails from a selected mailbox and shows:

  • Inbox vs Spam placement

  • Performance across major providers

  • Overall deliverability health of your domain

This helps you optimize campaigns before sending at scale.

What to Expect Before You Run a Test

  • Results appear within 2–24 hours

  • Safe to run anytime — does not affect your sending reputation

  • No real contacts are emailed

  • Zapmail sends non-promotional test emails only to seed inboxes

Step 1: Open Deliverability

  • Log in to your Zapmail dashboard

  • Click Deliverability Tool from the left sidebar and Select Inbox Deliverability

  • You’ll see all existing tests and past results

Step 2: Start a New Test

  • Click Run Deliverability Test (top-right)

Step 4: Configure Test Details

Fill in the required information:

  • Test Name – Use a clear name for easy tracking

  • Select the mailboxes you want to run deliverability test on

  • Add the content for the email or skip

  • Test Type

    • One-time test: $2.00 per mailbox

    • Monthly subscription: $3.00 per mailbox per month

    • Click on Launch or Schedule test for later on

Step 4: Complete Payment

  • Choose your preferred payment method

  • Click Continue to confirm

The Placement Test will start running automatically.

Step 5: View Test Results

Once the test is complete:

  • Return to Deliverability Tool→ Inbox Deliverability

  • Click on the View Report button to view results

  • Review inbox vs spam placement across provider

When Should You Run a Placement Test?

Run a Placement Test when:

  • Setting up a new domain or mailbox

  • Before scaling outreach campaigns

  • After changing email copy

  • If open or reply rates drop

Monthly tests are recommended for continuous monitoring
