Troubleshooting DNS Issues for Connected Domains in Zapmail

Updated over 2 weeks ago

If your domain appears Inactive, shows DNS not propagating, or displays Nameservers not pointing to Zapmail, this guide will help you identify and resolve the issue quickly.

Common Signs of DNS Issues

You may be facing a DNS issue if:

  • The domain shows as Inactive in Zapmail

  • Nameservers are not pointing to Zapmail

  • DNS status shows Not Propagated

  • Email-related records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, or MX) appear missing or invalid

Step 1: Check Domain Status in Zapmail

  1. Log in to your Zapmail dashboard

  2. Go to the Domains section

  3. Look for any warning labels such as:

    • Inactive

    • DNS not propagating

    • Nameservers not pointing to Zapmail

If you see any of these, continue with the steps below

Step 2: Verify Nameservers

  • In the Domains list, click on the affected domain

  • Click Update Nameservers

  • A pop-up will display the required Zapmail nameserver values

Now:

  • Log in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.)

  • Confirm that the nameservers exactly match the values shown in Zapmail

  • Save any changes if needed

⚠️ Even a small mismatch can prevent DNS from updating correctly.

Step 3: Wait for DNS Propagation

  • Nameserver changes usually take up to 24 hours

  • In some cases, it may take up to 48 hours to propagate globally

You can verify propagation using a public DNS checker such as Whois.com or similar tools.

Step 4: Verify in Zapmail

  • Once propagation is complete, return to Zapmail

  • Click Verify in the nameserver pop-up

  • Wait a few minutes and refresh the Domains page

Zapmail will automatically detect the updated DNS and mark the domain as active.

What Happens After Verification?

Once verified:

  • DNS records will propagate fully

  • The domain status will change to Active

  • Email authentication records will work normally

  • The domain becomes ready for reliable cold email outreach

Zapmail automatically manages essential DNS records like SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and MX.
