How to Add Custom DNS Records in Zapmail

Updated yesterday

DNS records control how your domain connects to websites, email services, and third-party tools. Zapmail lets you add custom DNS records directly from your dashboard, while automatically managing essential email records like SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and MX in the background.

You can add common record types such as A, TXT, MX, and CNAME to integrate external tools, complete verifications, or set up custom routing.

This guide walks you through adding DNS records step by step.

Before You Begin

Please make sure that:

  • The domain is purchased through Zapmail or successfully connected to Zapmail

  • At least one mailbox has been created on the domain

  • Nameservers are correctly pointing to Zapmail

  • You know which DNS record you need to add (as provided by a third-party service or verification flow)

⏳ DNS changes may take some time to propagate.

  • Log in to your Zapmail dashboard

  • Go to Domains from the left sidebar

  • Click on the domain you want to manage the dns records.

Step 2: Open dns records Settings

  • Select DNS Records from the sidebar

Step 3: Add a New DNS Record

  • A new DNS entry row will appear

    • Value / Address

Make sure the values match exactly with what your service provider has shared.

💡 Tip: Hosting a Website on Your Outreach Domain

If you plan to host a website or landing page on your outreach domain, you can add the DNS records (such as A, CNAME, or TXT) provided by your website hosting provider directly in Zapmail’s DNS Records section.

Once added, Zapmail will continue managing all essential email-related DNS records (SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX) automatically in the background.

Step 4: Save the Record

  • Click the ✓ (checkmark) icon to save the record

The DNS record will be added immediately.

ℹ️ Note: DNS updates can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to fully propagate depending upon the TLD of the domain.

⚠️ Important Notes

  • Deliverability-critical records such as SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and MX are automatically managed by Zapmail.

  • Avoid editing or deleting system-generated DNS records unless instructed by support.

  • Incorrect DNS values may impact email delivery or domain verification.

  • Do not change nameservers for domains connected to Zapmail. Doing so will disable automatic DNS management and may affect email deliverability.

  • For domains purchased through Zapmail, nameservers are locked and managed by Zapmail and cannot be changed manually.
