When connecting a domain to Zapmail, you may see the error “Workspace already exists.”
This happens because Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 allow only one active workspace per domain. If your domain is already linked to an existing workspace, Zapmail cannot create a new one until the old setup is removed.
This guide explains why the error occurs and how to fix it for both Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 domains.
Why This Error Happens
You’ll see this error if:
A Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 account was previously created for the domain
The domain was used by a previous owner
The domain is still linked to a third-party email provider
Until the existing workspace is released, the domain cannot be connected to Zapmail.
Fix for Google Workspace Domains
You may see “Google Workspace already exists” for one of the following reasons.
Case 1: You Previously Created a Google Workspace
If you set up Google Workspace in the past, it may still be active.
How to fix:
Go to Google Admin → Billing → Subscriptions
Select the subscription linked to your domain and Click More → Cancel Subscription.
After cancellation, delete the Workspace completely
Wait up to 24 hours before reconnecting the domain in Zapmail
Case 2: The Domain Was Used Before You Purchased It
If someone else created a Google Workspace on the domain:

Visit the Google Domain In-Use Recovery Tool
Follow the steps to recover or release the domain
Once released, wait a few hours before reconnecting it in Zapmail
Fix for Microsoft 365 Domains
If you see “Microsoft Workspace already exists,” your domain is linked to an existing Microsoft 365 tenant. You must remove the domain from that tenant before connecting it to Zapmail.
How to Remove a Domain from Microsoft 365
Go to the Microsoft Admin Center and log in using the admin account for the tenant
In the left sidebar, click Show more
Go to Settings → Domains
Select the domain you want to remove and Click Remove domain
Click Update and then Continue to confirm removal
Once the domain is fully removed, wait a short while and then reconnect it in Zapmail.
ℹ️ Important Notes
Google and Microsoft allow only one workspace per domain
Even old or unused workspaces must be fully deleted
Cancelling a subscription alone is not enough—the workspace must be removed
Zapmail cannot override Google or Microsoft restrictions
