Troubleshooting “Workspace Already Exists” When Connecting a Domain in Zapmail

Updated this week

When connecting your domain in Zapmail, you may see the error:
“Workspace already exists” .This happens because Google and Microsoft only allow one workspace per domain. A domain cannot be added to multiple Google or Microsoft accounts at the same time.

Below are the steps to fix this issue for Google and Microsoft domains.

For Google Workspace

You might see “Google Workspace already exists” for two common reasons:

1. You previously set up a Google Workspace account

If you had created a Google Workspace account earlier, it may still be active.

Steps to resolve:

  • Click More > Cancel Subscription.

  • After cancellation, Click on Delete Workspace to completely remove the Workspace tied to your domain.

  • Once cancelled, wait 24 hours before reconnecting the domain to Zapmail.

2. Someone else set up Google Workspace before you purchased the domain

If you’re not sure who set it up:

For Microsoft 365

If you see “Microsoft Workspace already exists”, it means your domain is already tied to another Microsoft tenant.

Steps to resolve:

  • If you purchased your domain and mailboxes from a third-party provider (e.g., GoDaddy, Bluehost, etc.), contact them and ask for the domain to be removed from their Microsoft tenant.

  • If you purchased directly through Microsoft, you’ll need to contact Microsoft Support and request that the domain be released.

Note

  1. Google/Microsoft allows only one Workspace per domain.

  2. Even if the Workspace was created years ago, the domain remains tied to that account until released.

  3. You must cancel the subscription and delete the Workspace before using the domain in Zapmail.

Conclusion

The “Workspace already exists” error is not caused by Zapmail, but by Google or Microsoft restrictions that only allow one active workspace per domain.

Once the subscription is canceled and the old workspace is deleted (for Google/Microsoft), or the domain is released by your Google/Microsoft, you’ll be able to connect it smoothly in Zapmail. If you face any issues during this process, feel free to contact our support team at [email protected] — we’re here to help!
